Eco-Friendly Interior Design a Trend for 2008 and Beyond
Green has become popular in the World of Interior Design, but not only as a color choice, but as an agenda to follow in the design and materials that are used. Eco-friendly furnishings, building materials and accessories are a definite trend for 2008 and the future ahead. Don't be fooled by buzz words that say “green”, “eco-friendly”, “recycled and reused”. Be a good consumer and do your research. Follow the development from harvesting or recycling through to the finished product.
Making the choice of Eco-Designed home interiors should start with the selection of picking an ethical manufacturer that is considerate not only of the environmental impact but of the labor standards involved as well. Beyond that you can consider if the manufacturer is using sustainable or recyclable materials. If you are satisfied with these areas then you more than likely be will satisfied with the finished product as well.
Not all manufacturers and companies have made the switch completely to 100% “Eco-Friendly”, but can be applauded for their efforts in recycling, by offering an exchange program of returning old furnishings and materials to be recycled and reused.
The Eco Trend is not just about using “green” products, but its also about your attitude in the room you are designing. Eco Design can have an unique flair for artistry and often it will go back to simple and organically designed shapes and materials. From natural rocks and stones to organic cottons, bamboo and hemp, reclaimed lumber, bricks and tiles can all offer not only an unique look just for your home, but it can have an upscale look as well.
2008 sees our homes getting an extra splash of color today. The natural softly muted earth tones are still popular, but dashes of reds, oranges, yellows and aqua's are making a big impact in interior design this year. Going green doesn't mean this color has to be splashed everywhere, after all just as in nature deep and brighter colors exist in harmony as well.
To create small changes within your space, add some colors and decor from nature, you'll be more than pleased as to how they can make your home receive a mini Spring and Summer face lift.
