Bath mats with a rubberized backing are best if you are looking for safety features, especially with small children or seniors. An important consideration, is deciding if you are going to be picking the mat up off the floor after each use, or if you are keeping it in place all the time. If you are keeping it down all the time, watch for the rubberized backing could discolor linoleum flooring. As silly as it might sound, you need to consider what direction you will be stepping out of the bath or shower, to consider the shape and size of the mat that you might require.
