Gone are the days of a “neutral wall” and thank goodness for that. Boring beige has taken a back seat along with nurses white, so now we’re in the 21st Century and we’re changing gears along with neutrals!
For a lot of us picking paint colours can be scarier than a trip to the dentist, but it doesn’t have to be that way. No need to worry over whether you can live with a deep red or sunshine yellow paint colour, there’s a new way of getting those splashes of colour without having it painted on every wall, and that’s called “accessorizing”. Your accessories will be where your accent colours come into play, and accessories is where you can have the most fun too.
Most of us will have a natural preference for warmer or cool toned colours and some of us like a mixture of both. The best way to set a great colour foundation for your room is to neutralize the wall colour. For the warmer colour palette beige has evolved into many shades and for the cooler colour palette greys and whites have grown in variety as well. Your choices are almost endless and there will be one that fits your room perfectly.
Keeping your main colour palette a “new neutral” will ground your room and allow you to be as creative as you’d like with colour in other areas. Neutrals are no longer boring; they can bring a sense of calm and relaxation to your space. Your accent colours that you use in your accessories will enhance your neutrals to their best potential. Remember your room will be personalized because your colours will reflect you, and what could be better!
