Paint Colors for Interior Design in 2010

If you love your room to look open and energetic, a popular color for Spring/Summer 2010 is going to be a yellow, that is bold and warm. This sunny yellow paint color is partnered well with crisp white moldings and trim, alongside warm earthy browns, such as furnishings. This color is suited best for a kitchen, sunroom or a child's room.

Purple has been modified for 2010 as well. No more ''grape jelly''. Gray has been added to purple to become a sophisticated color palette, combined with warm beige or a creamy cream. This beautiful gray purple color would be soothing in a master bedroom, ensuite or living area. It does lend itself to be more feminine, but it doesn't have to be. Adding some charcoal grays to the room can tone that persona down.

I really love this next color, as it reminds me of a rich homemade caramel sauce. Remember the ''gold tones'' of the 70's? Well, welcome to the gold tones of the new millennium. This rich leather like color oozes warmth all the way around. Partner it with a beautiful aubergine color, vibrant moss green or an almost black/burgundy, and your room will look modern, stylized and having others wondering why they didn't think of that combination themselves.

Green is another important color that has increased in popularity and will continue to do so. As in nature, green goes well with almost any other color. It can be made to look modern and contemporary or comfy, cozy and warm. The color ''Green'' should also have us thinking about using ''bringing green living'' to our environment both indoors and out. Look for Eco-friendly paints, finishes and materials when redecorating your next space. The NEW TWIST on the color Green, is shades of blue-green and green-blue, commonly named aquas. This variation is refreshing, peaceful and can be slightly tropical in feel. The tranquility of blue/green shades is suited to almost any room in the house. It can be dressed up as casual, formal with an air of sophistication or use it in your vacation home to give you that ''get-away'' feeling.

Don't despair if transparent colors are what you enjoy most. Off whites are no longer just a cream shade, but all shades of white with soft hints of blues, greens and grays. They look fresh and inviting and can be easily decorated to accommodate whatever décor style you have. This seamless looking color is ideal for adding height and space to a room, particularly one that has space challenges.

So, start 2010 with some exciting new color changes in your life. Think about your lifestyle, the purpose of your room and what you hope to achieve as an end result. Don't be afraid to use experts, after all, they are experts for a reason. Happy New Year and Enjoy from Interior Design Quest!
